Is it the grapefruit calories ?

Grapefruit has been a popular choice for losing weight. Many people have been using it for weight loss in a low calorie diet. So when such things happen people would tend to get into the hype. Just like how the acai berry was thought to be a very good weight loss food. But grapefruit has proven to be somehow help people who are overweight to lose weight and also improve insulin response.

Even though such facts were claimed by people, there is not much scientific backing to prove it. Still it is consumed and followed by dieters with a proper grapefruit diet plan. But one thing about grapefruit is clear. It does not contain any miracle fat-burning enzymes. There could be various other reasons for the fruit to being a effective at helping to lose weight.

It was estimated that a full size grapefruit which is 4 inches in diameter would weigh roughly around 240grams. Nearly 90% of it is water. Maybe it could be possible that because of it water content, it was able to keep people well hydrated and also filled. It was claimed that you can burn up to 10 calories just by drinking water. It could be a possibility but than you would have to eat a lot. So could it be the grapefruit calories ?.

Grapefruit calories seem to be pretty low. On an estimated value, a single fruit can have range of 50 to 80 calories. Yes yes..grapefruit has carbohydrates, protein and is very rich in vitamin C and A. But we know that calories are the real deal behind weight loss. We also know that fruit diets are a problem as hunger would set in pretty quick.

So what makes grapefruit calories so special from other fruits. It doesn not really make a difference except that grapefruit has high fiber content, but furthermore it has a low glycemic index. Glycemic index is the measurement of the rate at which carbohydrates in the food affect a person’s blood glucose level within two hours after eating the food.

Foods with low GI scores break down slowly in the digestive tract and thus prevent sudden changes in the blood sugar level, which is an important consideration for people with type 2 diabetes and for those watching their weight. Grapefruit has a GI of 25, which is lower than the GI scores of apples (40), oranges (51), and bananas (51).

It is still not known 100% why grapefruits are awesome. To me I feel that the grapefruit calories and its fiber content help people to stay focus on their diet.

There are many popular diets that work. Like slim fast, medi fast and atkin`s diet etc… But they commonly revolve around a single concept for most of their products. Which is being low in carbohydrates. Which brings to my top ten diets that work. Low carbohydrate diet, which is a well known one too. Many products and ebooks recommend this type of diet. This is because it is speculated that majority of the people who are obese are actually addicted to foods that are high in carbohydrates.

Fact is we need carbohydrates. In the digestive tract, carbohydrates are broken
down into glucose, which provides energy for the body’s cells and tissues. Glucose is the body’s primary source of fuel. A common concern among consumers is that a high intake of carbohydrate-rich foods will cause weight gain. Consuming too much of any particular food can cause an increase in weight. It is suggested that about 40–70% of daily calories comes from carbohydrates.

Even though low carbohydrate is a good choice for dieting, it is best followed for only 20 to 30 days. If you on this diet for too long your carbohydrate intake will become low. Which will cause insufficient glucose production. This will cause the body to use its protein for energy rather than maintaining the body’s immune system or repairing muscle tissues. Without carbohydrate, the body also goes into a state of ketosis, in which by-products of fat breakdown, called ketones, accumulate in the blood. This causes a shift in the acid-base balance of the blood, which can be fatal.

As we all know about diets these easy diets that work, we need to make sure we do not stay on them for a long time. But if low carb diet has such complications than why is it in my top ten diets that work? Well it works in the first place. Like in my previous articles, I have stated that you have to switch your diets at least after a month or create a combination of diets.

Low carbohydrate diet is recommended for people who physically alright. If you are diabetic you better seek a physician to recommend, because the even medical community recommend carbohydrate diets differently. Before following any popular diets that work make sure to research and ask about the implications.

There are so many choices out there when it comes to losing weight. People are overwhelmed with choices for their needs. So many different forms and types of diet meals that exist and yet they require you to be strict with your daily intakes with exercises. Of course, when such diets causes you to be restricted you would not really feel good about yourself.

There are people who have lost weight with many different programs, and many more have not. The key is to focus on one thing and try it and see if it works, but you could also end up spending loads of cash. So we understand we need cost effective, non restrictive and quick meal. Well low carb meal bars are suitable. Simply put, the low carb meal bars are cheap and quick to consume. Plus you can use it to replace your snack time or breakfast.

Why low carb? Carbohydrates are another form of fuel for the body. The body does not use much of it, the excess carbs are stored away resulting in you gaining weight. So when you simply replace a meal or snack with low carb meal bars, you will end up taking in lesser carbohydrates and your body has to use the reserves that it has stored from your previous meals for energy. Some people disagree with these methods as they claim that it will deprive you of your vitamins and minerals. They are wrong, many low carb meal bars are packed with proteins, vitamins and minerals.

There are those who still get hungry even after replacing a meal with such diet bars. It depends on which meal you replace as well. Look for a meal that you consume, like when you snack between your normal three meals. Replace them with diet bars. If you want to take it for one of the three main meals and if you still feel hungry than the next best thing to do, eat fruits or salads.

Low carb meal bars cannot be used for a long period of time. Everything has to be pre-planned and stopped on time. You will lose weight but do not expect your body to be toned. For toning you got to workout. Make sure you do follow and keep up with your plans. Good Luck
